Gurdas Maan is a legendary Indian singer, songwriter, and actor celebrated for his immense contributions to Punjabi music and cinema. He first captured national attention in 1980 with the iconic song “Dil Da Mamla Hai” and has since recorded over 34 albums and written more than 305 songs. Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential Punjabi musicians of all time, Maan’s artistry continues to inspire generations.

In 2015, he collaborated with Diljit Dosanjh on the hit track “Ki Banu Duniya Da”, performed on MTV Coke Studio India (Season 4, Episode 5). The song, which aired on August 16, 2015, became a sensation, resonating with millions and showcasing Maan’s ability to blend tradition with modernity.

Gurdas Maan is also the only Punjabi singer to win the prestigious National Award for Best Male Playback Singer at the 54th National Film Awards for his soulful narration of Heer in the film Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris. This masterpiece also entered the Academy Awards (Oscars) in the General Category, a monumental achievement supported by India Waves TV and Golden Palms Entertainment Inc.

Maan’s fame soared with the unforgettable tracks “Mamla Gadbad Hai” and “Chhalla”, the latter being a standout song from the Punjabi film Laung Da Lishkara (1986), composed by the legendary Jagjit Singh.

Beyond music, Gurdas Maan has starred in blockbuster Bollywood films and received numerous accolades, including the Jury’s Award presented by the President of India in 2005. His live performances, such as Ki Banu Duniya Da on MTV Coke Studio, continue to captivate global audiences, with the song garnering over 32 million YouTube views within a week of its release.

In 2009, he earned the title of “Best International Album” at the UK Asian Music Awards for his album Boot Polishan. His legacy was further cemented in 2017 when he received the Filmfare Award for Living Legend at the inaugural Filmfare Awards Punjabi.
